"Blurring white border" processing to float characters from the background
TThis TIPS is a work manual written for my manga assistant.
手 順 This section describes the procedure for performing the following blurred border processing that is often used during work.
1: Spread the white solid along the character's silhouette
「The“ Matte ”layer for solid white exists from the beginning in the“ Character ”folder in the layer template, under the“ Tone folder ”. Be careful not to create a new layer with the same name.
(If another layer with the same name remains, it will be an obstacle for the writer to move by specifying the layer name)
敷 Spread the white solid on the “mat” layer along the character's silhouette.
塗 In order to paint quickly with the bucket tool, at least the main line of the character must be set as the reference layer.
In the case of the above layer configuration, it is no problem to use the "character" folder as the reference source, but if you select "frame border" as the reference source, the background and balloon are also included in the reference source, so please avoid it .
ほ か In addition to the normal bucket tool, the "Tool to paint around without gaps" is also useful.
By temporarily turning on the layer color, it becomes easier to detect omissions.
2: Add white border to “Mat” layer and rasterize
ら After laying white solids along the silhouette, border the “mat” layer.
The border size depends on the character and the size of the frame, but it is around 15 for small frames and around 30 for particularly large frames.
と き If "Character white solid which is not blurred" is in another part, cut out only the part to be margined to another layer, and then perform this processing.
After setting the border, right-click the "Matte" layer on the layer palette and rasterize.
3: Set parallel line ruler on "Mat" layer
Set a special ruler "Parallel line" ruler on the "Matte" layer.
な け れ ば Unless otherwise specified, use a vertical ruler. Select the "parallel line" ruler tool, and hold down Shift to draw a line up and down.
4: Blur the silhouette with the "wood grain ribbon" brush
Blur the silhouette of the "mat" layer using the brush of "Kome Ribbon_Shimome (by Tachibana Nishiki)".
The brush size is "150", so turn on the "Snap Enabled" option to make it snap to the ruler.
In order to make it difficult to see the border between the white border and the blurred part, add a darker white near the silhouette line.
If the border is too square or too dark, switch to a transparent color and scrape it.
Be careful not to over-sharpen the first solid white part.
The work is completed when the following conditions are met.
List of materials used for this work
The brush used for blurring can be replaced with the following free materials in addition to the "wood grain ribbon".
