In this tutorial I am going to show you how I made this simple design for an emoji.

First I drew the circle of the head and ears in one layer.

I hid the paper layer to preserve the transparency of the drawing

Then, in another layer I put the gestures of the character (eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth).

I left another layer for color and another for shadows.

For shadows change the property of the layer from "normal" to "multiplication"

Once the property of the layer has been changed, we proceed to color the shadows. With the eyedropper tool (i) select the color to be darkened from the drawing and then the darker area is colored.

In another layer I put a background color to relate emotion to color.

 

Once the emoji is finished, you just have to export it. To do this, access the file menu - export (one layer) - png (png). Then a window will appear to indicate the place where the image will be saved.

The image must be PNG and the paper layer must be hidden to preserve transparency.

To change the character gestures, just delete the shadow and gesture layers. Draw a different face, shade it, and re-export.
