Hello everyone, this is KK of KKDRAW.

Today, I’m going to teach you how to draw "Air Scenery"

The brushes I use:

1. Thick printing → Paint shortage brush / flat, mottled flat brush / dry

2. Smear & Melt

3. Realistic pencil

My painting process:

★ Listen to music → Decide the color tone → Draw the subject → Draw the perspective → Draw bright and dark according to the light → Fine-tune the picture → Finish

══════════════════

Everyone's painting habits are different, and the order of painting is also different. When I personally draw this kind of artistic paintings, I will listen to the music first, so that I can immerse myself in the world of music, and then I will start to draw. When I draw with the music, sometimes I can draw unexpectedly faster. a feeling of.

Below, I will follow the painting process above, and teach everyone layer by layer to complete the "airy" scenery ↓

1. Listen to music (mainly what you like and relax people):

《Howl's Moving Castle Violin & Piano repeat 1 hour music》

This one-hour version of "Hall's Moving Castle" for violin and piano is a song I listened to when I was drawing this picture. The reason I chose this song is because this is the animation soundtrack of "Hall’s Moving Castle". Usually the animation soundtrack is to make the audience immerse into the animation as soon as possible, so the processing of the soundtrack will vary according to the various stages in the plot. Rhythm, "When you see the picture, you hear the music", "When you hear the music, you think of the picture." As long as these two points are reached, then this is a piece of music suitable for listening before painting.

▲Of course, it’s best if you have music that you like and can relax quickly.

2. Determine the color tone (how to use the gradient):

Every painting will have a main color, using the main color to make the overall picture consistent, can also help you grasp the position of the main objects in the picture. Take the following picture as an example↓

The main tones of this work are these three. Each color corresponds to the main tone of a different area.

Pale yellow is the main hue of the sky↑

Light blue is the main hue of the mountain↑

Black is the main hue of the tree↑

══════════════════

So in terms of my painting, it is mainly the following three tones↓

So first of all, I will do the gradient processing of the background first, so that the picture separates the sky but the ground. As for the colors used, two of the main colors are the main ones.

★ Gradient drawing method:

Choose light blue and press "Alt+Delete" to fill the whole with light blue↑

Select "Gradation Tool" → "Copy Auxiliary Tool" → Select "Gradation" in the task icon → press OK↑

Copy the gradient, hold the cursor down the arrow at the bottom of the gradient and drag it down → make the gradient only left and right two colors

Absorb the dark blue of the main color → then add the dark blue and the transparent color underneath to the gradient (generate gradual transparency) ↑

Use the changed gradient just now, press and hold the cursor from the lower left to the upper right of the screen, and finally release it to complete it~

══════════════════

★ Gradient transparency is a very practical function, as long as you replace the color on the left, you can quickly perform a large area of color gradation. If you make this gradient transparent and match the function of the color blending mode, you can produce a softer color brighter or darker color, as shown in the figure below ↓

1. Use the "light blue" + "overlay" blending mode on the left (gradual layer from upper right to lower left)

2. The original picture is in the middle

3. Use the mixed mode of "dark blue" + "color enhancement" on the right (gradient from lower left to upper right)

3. Draw the subject (the secret of drawing a dead tree):

The main body of this painting is a dead wood in the foreground. The dead wood is slightly inclined, because according to the angle of the gradient, the dead tree should also be drawn according to the angle of the gradient, otherwise it will feel that the perspective of the foreground and the background does not match (in short, any object in this painting is best to follow the gradient Angle to draw).

══════════════════

Draw the brush used for the main tree: thick brush kit→insufficient paint pen/flat

When using "Insufficient paint pen/flat", remember to turn on the function of "base color mixing" so that you can have the function of color mixing when painting.

══════════════════

Draw the main branch first. As shown in the picture above, there will be a joint point between the trunk and the branches, so when drawing the branches, it will not be a line, but there will be a little angle to the outside.

Pay attention to the joint points of the dead wood. You can draw the joint points more protruding, so that people can see that they are joint points at a glance ↑

After the main branches are drawn, you can start to draw some small branches. Small branches can be freely extended from the main branch, and the angle of extension is usually relatively large, and it can even be drawn to 90 degrees without any problem↑

Finally, there can be some small bifurcations at the end of the branch. As shown in the picture above, there are mostly two bifurcations. As for the length, it can be long or short, but never draw too thick, because it is the end of the branch↑

As for the part of the leaves, it is not necessary to draw too carefully. After all, it is a dead wood. The leaves are relatively rare and broken. As for the color part, light blue is used as the main color, so that the leaves can be seen clearly ↑

4. Draw the perspective (the use of free deformation tools):

In order to present the feeling of a wide scene, the first thing is to make sure that the scene in the picture is in perspective (the whole scene will gather in a place in the middle), and the close-up is usually darker, as for the distant view is usually lighter, as long as you paint Pay attention to these points, and you should be able to draw nice and wide scenes.

4-1 Landscape painting

The brush used to draw the mountain: thick brush kit→insufficient paint pen/flat

══════════════════

Beginners may be unfamiliar with accurate perspective, so I will teach you a method here.

First of all, first draw the top view of the river, because we will use a "free deformation" function in CSP to adjust the paired perspective, so we must first draw the top view of the scene. As for the top view of the river, it is very simple. Just need to draw the feeling of winding, as shown below ↓

Next is to draw the top view of the mountain~ Then you can refer to the top view of the real picture. You can see that the top view of the mountain actually has a very obvious top line. As for this line, it is mainly presented through the shadow of the mountain. If the painting is darker and the other side is lighter, it is easy to draw the feeling of overlooking the mountain. ↓

After clearly drawing the lines of the mountains, you can see the real picture. The mountains are not all connected together. There will be some gaps in the middle. As these gaps are flat parts, you can draw some flat parts lightly. Come to make the whole mountain a little more level ↓

Then you can start to use the "free deformation" function to adjust.

★ File→Deformation→Free Deformation↓

Then adjust it to conform to the perspective. It’s okay that the two sides will be exposed. We will fill it up later. At least we must first use the "Free Transform" function to adjust a correct perspective, so that the perspective when drawing later Will be more correct ↓

Finally, fill up the two sides, and the basic mountains and rivers are drawn. After the clouds are also painted, finally repair them together ↓

4-2 Cloud Painting Method

Izumo-like brush printing: Thick printing style → Mottled flat brush / dry

══════════════════

We can know from the real picture that the bottom of the sky is generally light, while the top is dark. So when you draw the outline of the cloud, the color of the background sky needs to be colored according to the method of "light down and darker"↓

Since the clouds in this work are relatively large, we chose to use the way of drawing the background sky to capture the shape of the cloud, which will be more convenient and faster than drawing the cloud directly ↑

Then use bright purple to add the bright side of the cloud. Since the light is preset to come from the right, the position of the bright side will be higher than the right side of the overall cloud↑

Finally, in order to make the shape and gradation of the shadow surface of the cloud a little bit more, we can absorb the color of the dark part and draw a few more strokes to the bright upper part. Since "まだら平笔/干" has a cloud texture after repeated stacking of colors, you can stack several layers of colors to increase the texture of the cloud ↑

5. Draw bright and dark according to the light:

After this step, the position of each object has basically been determined, so the next step is to brighten the bright part and darken the dark part according to the direction of the light, as shown below ↓

5-1 Vision increases brightness and darkness

1. Increase the bright surface:

We can draw more obvious lines to grab the outline of the mountain. As for the other parts, because of the perspective, as long as the bright surface is painted according to the position of the light, it does not matter if the painting is a little sloppy ↓

2. Increase the dark side:

The color of the dark side can be close to the black of trees, but not too dark. When increasing, you can change the dark color (lower right corner) on a large area, and of course, the local deepening can also make the mountain more layered (left half) ↓

5-2 Increase the brightness and darkness in the close range

1. Increase the bright surface:

Compared with the mountains in the background, the bright surface of the dead wood is more detailed, and you can draw a clear bright surface line on the right side of the dead wood. This is because the light is coming from the right side, so it will be on the right side. A bright surface is produced on the trunk on the right ↓

2. Increase the dark side:

The dark side of the dead wood should be drawn with the darkest black in the entire picture, so as to highlight that the dead wood is the foreground, and at the same time increase the texture of the dead wood. As for the ends of the branches, all parts must be replaced with black. The trunk looks like one ↓

6. Detailed screen repair:

Finally, I added a faint light to the distant place, as if the light in the distance was blocked by the cloud, so one by one beam of light was produced↓

In addition to the light, I also added something similar to a house next to the river below, although it is not obvious...Haha↓

7. Finish:

It's finally done~~

Remember to sign your name after painting and record the time of painting. In addition to showing that the work belongs to you, it can also prevent others from processing your own work everywhere~

══════════════════

Okay, so I hope that after watching the teaching, everyone can really understand what is the production process of a landscape painting, and can draw their own scenery by themselves~

I’m KK, see you in the next lesson~
