After all, what we draw most often are characters.

Among the characters, the shape of the face is the most complex.

So many little cuties always fail at the level of face painting.

Because drawing a face is not as difficult as imagined

As long as you can practice some techniques and get the hang of it

Drawing your character's face from any angle will become much easier!

And today I will also use Clip studio paint to demonstrate

Because Clip studio paint has super convenient painting aids

Can help us when drawing and angle faces

Faster, easier, more convenient and simpler!

hateful! I seem to be addicted to Clip studio paint🤣🤣🤣

simple proportions of face

First of all, we must first understand the basic relative proportions of the facial features at the very beginning. After understanding the basic relative proportions of the facial features, we have to try to draw various angles to have a basis, instead of drawing the face. Sometimes, I don’t know how to draw, so I draw a scary monster!

But because the proportions of the facial features of a human face are actually more complicated, they can also be very professional and in-depth. So here, in order to allow you to easily and quickly draw faces from various angles, we will use simpler facial features. Use relative proportions to explain!

First, we draw a cross on the center of the circle. The horizontal line of the cross is the position of our eyebrows. Then we divide the straight lines in the upper and lower halves into three equal parts. The top 1/3 is the hair. The bottom 1/3 of the circle is the base of the nose. Finally, adding another 1/3 of the length to the bottom of the circle will be our chin. Basically, after grasping the relative proportions of these facial features, You can start trying to use this proportion with the following techniques to draw heads from various angles!

Technique 1. Sliced sphere + hanging jaw

In fact, we can simply think of the human head as a sphere with a thin slice cut into the left and right sides. The center point of the circular plane with the left and right slices hung on the lower jaw of our face. This is the simple structure of the human head after we simplify it.

We can first try to draw such a structural volume from several different angles.

Then we can mark the relative proportions of the facial features that we just knew.

Then directly use the faces we drew at each angle to draw the face angle we want to draw! You can directly watch the instructional video during the painting process. When drawing the details of the facial features, you can still make some adjustments according to your own creative needs.

Amazing, right?

In fact, this method is to simplify the human head and add the relative positions of the facial features, which can be used as the basis for us to depict the facial features from various angles! Using this method, we can draw faces from various angles, and our minds will no longer be blank!

Tip 2. Sphere + piece of paper

After we have looked at the first technique for drawing faces at various angles, we are going to introduce you to the second technique for drawing faces at various angles! In the second technique, we are going to use a simpler structure of the face than the first technique! I believe you probably guessed it after reading the title, that’s right! Just use a piece of paper to wrap half of a sphere!

But in order to make the sphere half-wrapped by paper closer to the proportions of the facial features of the human face, we can make the height of the paper equal to 7/6 of the diameter of the sphere, and then we can try to use such a simplified structure of the human head to draw various different angle!

Then, we can draw several different angles based on this structure.

And mark the relative proportions of the facial features.

At this time, we can use the same technique as the previous one and directly draw the details of the facial features on these simplified head structures from different angles!

You can also watch the instructional video directly during the painting process! In this way, even if you don’t have any reference drawings, you can just pick up the drawing tools and draw faces from various angles. At the beginning of practice, you may find it a little difficult because you have never tried drawing like this before, but Don’t worry, as you practice more and more, you’ll get the hang of it! If you also want to draw faces from various angles more easily and quickly, then you must not miss the third tip!

Tip 3. Clip studio paint 3D assistant tool

I think this is the biggest reason why many people use Clip studio paint, because its auxiliary functions are really great! In the past, learning to draw figures required proficiency in human structure, muscles, perspective, etc. For many people, it was an endless amount of professional knowledge. Even if they learned it, they might not be able to draw it without enough practice, so Many painting auxiliary software and tools are constantly being introduced as people's demand for images in life has greatly increased! Nowadays, you don’t even need 3D software or find 3D materials. You can use Clip Studio Paint directly. You can use the built-in or 3D auxiliary tools shared by other creators to help you quickly draw faces from various angles! So let’s quickly take a look at how to use this 3D painting aid!

First of all, because the built-in 3D character model of Clip studio paint is mainly for the whole body, I recommend here that you download a 3D head model provided by the creator, which will be convenient for you who want to directly draw facial features. Of course It should be noted that this 3D auxiliary tool can only be used in Clip studio paint! It cannot be used in other painting software, so if you want to use this convenient painting aid quickly, of course you have to buy and use Clip studio paint!

After downloading this 3D face model, we can arbitrarily set the angle of the face we want to draw, and then refer to the 3D face model to draw the character we want to draw!

The advantage of the 3D facial model is that it already has muscles, so even if you are a beginner in drawing and don’t know much about facial muscles and facial features, you can still get started quickly! You may find that during the painting process, even if I have a reference, I still adjust some details to be different from the reference picture. The reason is because even if you have a reference, you still have to make adjustments according to your creative needs. How to adjust To get closer to your creative needs, you will slowly know it through long-term practice and painting!

So all the teaching has been seen here.

All you have to do now is grab your drawing tools, try drawing and see!

You may encounter some difficulties in the painting process at the beginning.

Maybe it’s because I’m not used to it or my painting skills aren’t very smooth.

But that's okay

After practicing a few times following the method in the video,

You'll slowly get the hang of it!

If you encounter any problems during practice
