10 Tips to improve your sweets drawing for beginners

Hi! Today I will share some simple tips to improve your sweets drawing for beginners.

1. Use a symmetrical ruler

Use a symmetrical ruler to make your drawing easier and faster, for example I use it to make a glass cup

2. Add some extra decorations to give an aesthetic impression

If you feel that your food image is too plain, you can add additional decorations such as pieces of fruit, make the jam on the food spill a little, or you can add decorative decorations such as flowers/leaves, etc.

3. Use vector eraser to clean up the lineart easily

Make sure you create the lineart on the vector layer.

This makes us quick in cleaning the lineart, we only need to scribble a little on the part we want to clean.

4. Thicken the outline

Use the sub tool: correct line-Adjust line width, to thicken the lineart.

And this is the result

5. A quick way to fill in base colors

I use this for a quick and easy fill for my base color, just select the area you want to fill and it will fill it without going outside the line art

6. Use materials

Because I want the cloth underneath to have a pattern, I will use a material for it.

The way to add it, you only need to drag the material image towards the canvas

Then move the material layer above the cloth color layer. Then clip the layer to the cloth color layer, and set the size of the material.

7. Use multiply layers to create shadows

Use a light color first, then add a slightly darker color to make the shadow look stronger

8. Light

Use overlay layers

Give it a soft lighting using an soft airbrush

For the parts exposed to the sun, give colors with warm tones such as (cream, yellow, beige, peach, etc.) and for the dark parts, give colors with cool tones such as (blue, purple, turquoise, etc)

Add a screen layer to create highlights

I usually put the highlights on the sides and the light reflections

9. Color your lineart

Change the color of your lineart to match the color of the drawing will make it look better

10. Add a sparkle effect

Add a new layer, then change it to an add (glow) layer. Use it to give some sparkle/glitter effects. You can also use it to make your drawing highlights stronger
