How to make star brush in Clip Studio Paint night sky art
Are you thinking about how to draw stars in the sky night digitally? Best way for it — creating a brush. In this tutorial I will show you how to make such a brush. Have fun and inspiration for your art!

1. Creating brush tip shape
Click on the Layer –> New Layer –> Raster layer:
Important tip: When you create a new layer for the star, make sure you create it in Gray mode. This is so that you can change the color of the brush as you paint.
Draw a star:
Tap the Shrink selection tool and select your star:
Click Edit –> Register Material –> Image:
Turn on „Use for brush tip shape“, choose save location and click OK:
You can also draw several different stars.
Duplicate some brush:
2. Brush settings
Before we start changing settings, I wanna say that in Sub Tool so much different cool things, what is not showing in default brush settings. But you can solve it: just click on the little box lefter the setting, little eye will appear and this setting will be in the “simple version “ of the brush that you use and change as usual (it can be Size, Gap, Hue value and more).
Click Window –> Sub Tool Detail:
Now instead of Circle select Material, find select stars one by one:
Turn on flipping as horizontal and vertical random:
In Brush Size correct the size of the brush and tap these two little check marks, let it be Pen pressure and Tilt:
If you want to make some random color of stars, open Color Jitter and turn on Change brush tip color, then change Hue little and click this little pen, new window will appear again and next you can do is turn on Random:
In Spraying effect turn on Particle size.
Customize Gap value:
Oh, and a really cool glow effect can be achieved by playing around with the Watercolor edge setting:
Brush looks good? Congratulations! Save all settings as default:
3. Using the brush
