A. INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone~

 

 

Office wear , there is a wide variety of them different textures and prints . In this tutorial i will be sharing some quick tips and tricks on how i draw office wears and how i maintain same prints in clothes throughout my webtoon and also about folds & wrinkles in clothing

 

 

 

 

let's get started!

 

B. GENERAL WRINKLES AND FOLDS

 

 

1. THE FALL AND STRETCH

 

The fall wrinkle occur when the shirt is loose enough and it mostly takes place in center or at the bottom of the shirt but at the back of the shirt the fall wrinkles mostly appears on top below the collar .

 

As for the stretch wrinkles its a continuation part of loose wrinkle . Stretch wrinkle takes place when the body or the arm is doing a moment or simply when the shirt is tight but when the shirt is loose the fall wrinkles takes place first and then continuing with stretch wrinkle .

 

In tight shirts fall wrinkles does not takes place .

2. ARM WRINKLES

I subdivide this wrinkle into the" mountains and valley " and the "pinch" wrinkle . The pinch wrinkle takes place when the arm is folded and the mountains and valley wrinkles is a continuation . Mountains and valley wrinkles also takes place after the shoulder

 

I call it mountains and valley because it makes us imagine the texture more easier .

 

TIP: While drawing mountains and valley wrinkles draw zig zag texture in the middle it's a quick and easy method and we don't have to spend much time thinking how texture works

TIP: I usually draw a straight line in one side of the arm and makes the other with wrinkles .

this shows the difference between shirt and coats because coat are much for stiffer than shirts

 

 

NOTE: The collar from the side view , it doesn't goes straight and it actually goes little slighting .

C. DECIDING THE WEAR FOR YOUR CHARACTER

I think clothing and choice of clothing makes a huge impact in your character and their personality and clothing even talks about their interests so i have made an example on how the clothing takes about a person .

 

also i tried to make various outfit so that you guys can see a variety which may help for creating outfit for your character.

just by looking at the clothing we can create alot of characters and their personality . Here i have made some for examples on how the clothing can even change according to situations and personalities.

 

 

 

A single piece with a coat . This type of clothing can go for situation like a date after work .

 

The waist coat only . I think this wear suits for a character who is the confident, out going and cheerful one .

D. TRICKS AND TIPS FOR WEBTOON AND COMIC CREATURES

Here's the trick about how to make the clothing look same in every panel .

 

 

 

 

TRICK 1: PATTERNS

STEP 1: First i make the lineart and color the shirt and the coat separately that is a separate layer for shirt color and separate layer for coat .

STEP 2 : I use the materials available in clip studio find "brush and more " . (I have linked the material i have used above . ) Now i take the material from downloaded mateial and drop it on the canvas

STEP 3 : Then i use the adjuster blue box and just fix the pattern as desired .

This method just saves so much time especially for webtoon and comic creatures

 

 

TRICK 2: LACE AND MESH

 

 

STEP 1: Here first i do the lineart and flat color

 

STEP 2: Then i make a new layer above and clip it to the layer below and then i paint using a watercolor brush . i do black first and then skin .

 

 

In the left i have done only black paint and in the right pic i have added a new layer and painted skin color and made the opacity to 19%

STEP 3: now for the mesh lace i again create a new layer and clip it to the layer below and use this brush and just stroke in for the mesh.

 

we can even change the color of the mesh .

 

 

 

TRICK 3: SCARF AND TIES

STEP 1: I make a separate layer to color tie

STEP 2: Then i make a new layer above it and clip it . Now take the brush linked below and select a color of choice and color it .

 

This can be used for clothes too but i prefer these pattern on ties more and this same trick goes for scarfs.

E. TUTORIAL : HOW I COLOR MY OUTFITS

here's my process on how i do my outfits.

 

 

STEP 1: After sketch i do a clean line art .

STEP 2: Then i color them with flat colors separately in different layers.

STEP 3: Now i do shading on the same flat color layer . I use watercolor and g pen for shading to give them both hard soft edges.

 

 

i do shading on new layer for shirt

 

STEP 4: Then i make a new layer above the flat color and clip it o the layer below and then drag the materials from downloaded material and drop them and adjust them according to desire .
