From Ver. 1.10.5, new items have been added to the brush and pen customization settings.

Note: Not available in DEBUT.

Note: Brushes that use the new settings cannot be imported into Ver. 1.10.4 and earlier.

 

Importing Photoshop brush files (extension: .abr)

(1) In the tool palette, select the tool/sub tool group to store the imported brush, and select [Import sub tool] from [Show menu] on the upper left of the sub tool palette.

 

In the smartphone version, long press the sub tool selection screen to display the menu.

 

(2) Select and import an ABR file saved on your device.

 

For ABR files that contain multiple brushes, all brushes will be loaded as a new group within the selected tool.

If you are only importing one brush, the brush will be loaded into the selected sub tool group.

 

You can configure the feel and settings of imported brushes from the [Tool Property] palette and [Sub Tool Detail] palette.

 

New settings for pens and brushes

New settings such as [Color Jitter] have been added to the pen and brush settings, expanding the expressive range of the brush engine.

New settings can be adjusted in the [Sub Tool Detail] palette.

Note: The [Sub Tool Detail] palette is not available in Clip Studio DEBUT.

 

　・Color Jitter

This dynamically changes the selected drawing color.

Hue, saturation, brightness, etc. can be changed selectively or randomly depending on pen pressure, stroke speed, etc.

 

This is effective when you want to add subtle color changes while drawing concept art, or when you want to create a decoration brush effect with color jitter.

Note: Pens and brushes that use a colored brush tip shape will not be affected.

 

 

 

Note: Changes brush tip color

 

By enabling [Change brush tip color], you can change the hue, saturation, and brightness of the drawing color.

 

The higher the value, the greater the color change.

You can also set [Dynamics] such as pen pressure for each setting, including hue, saturation, and brightness.

 

By specifying the [Dynamics], the drawing color (main color) of the line can be changed while drawing.

You can change the color of the brush tip in a single stroke without changing the tip itself.

 

• Blend with sub color: From Ver. 1.10.5, [Blend with sub color] has been moved from the [Ink] tab of [Sub Tool Detail] to the [Color Jitter] tab.

You can blend the main drawing color and sub drawing color. The closer the value is to 0, the closer it leans to the main color, and the closer to 100 it is, the closer it leans to the sub color.

 

 

 

Note: Randomizes per stroke

 

By enabling this, you can randomize the drawing color of each brushstroke.

The higher the value, the greater the color change.

 

　・[Flip Horizontal] and [Flip Vertical] on the [Brush tip shape]

This flips the brush tip of the selected brush.

This adds variations to the brush patterns, which is useful for the [Decoration] tool’s stamp brushes and spray brushes.

 

Other than horizontal and vertical, the following flip settings can be applied.

 

None, Flip, Random, Flip on reversed strokes

Note: [Flip on reversed strokes] can be set when [Reverse] is used for multiple tip shapes in [Stroke] > [Repeat method].

 

　・Texture brightness/contrast

You can adjust the [Brightness] and [Contrast] of images that are applied as brush textures.

You can adjust the texture’s strength without having to edit the image material.

 

　・Texture mode

In addition to [Normal], [Multiply], [Subtract], [Compare] and [Outline], five new texture modes have been added: [Overlay] [Color dodge], [Color burn], [Hard mix], [Height].

These modes expand how pencils, realistic watercolors, and oil paint brushes express textures.
