Soft glow filter effect

To finish up, I’ll add a filter effect. I decided to add my usual glow-like effect.

I use the [Layer] menu > [Flatten image] to merge all the layers together. Then, I select this layer and copy it using [Layer] menu > [Duplicate Layer].

I select [Filter] menu > [Blur] > [Gaussian blur].

I then adjust [Area to blur] from the [Gaussian blur] dialog box, and click [OK].

After that, I use the [Layer] palette and change the blending mode of the blurred layer to [Screen].

The effect was too strong, so I lower the opacity.

Some people like to adjust using a layer with it's blending mode set to [Multiply] under a layer with it's blending mode set to [Screen]. Instead of [Screen], some prefer setting the layer's blending mode set to [Overlay]. I don’t use these methods because they tend to change the color tones drastically.

Now I’m finished.
