Hi Clip Studio Painters! Here is Ondine and you are watching "How to make emoticons and stamps with Clip Studio Paint"!

Introduction

Everyone is in love with these cute pictures, there are many types, photos, anime, cartoons, everything for all taste. So the first thing that you have to do is to choose what kind of type you want to create!

Choose your portal

Where do you want to upload them? Telegram? Whatsapp? Good! But You need, before everything, to know the measurement allowed to your favourite portal.

I personally prefer telegram so I use their required size (512px x 512px png).

Choose your methods

You can choose to work in the exact size of the canvas or with a bigger one and then scale down when you finished.

I choose to work in a bigger canvas, in proportions, make sure to set the transparent background!

Choose your subject

For the first step choose your subject, it can be literally everything you want, a girl, a boy, animal, object, everything!

Then choose every kind of emotions you want to create, use some reference to do as many expressions as possibile.

We can start from the bases! Happy, Angry, Sad, Shy, Love.

So, what kind of character do you want to draw? and how? Do you Want just the face or maybe an half body? That's your choice!

Let's Sketch!

Start with a sketch, so you can change your ideas whenever you want.

Start with a new layer and make a manikin. I prefer to make it with blue color, so I can see it better when I'll do, the final sketch, in a layer above.

When you'll be satisfied of the result you just need to ink!

Ink!

When the sketch is done create another level for the ink!

I love to work on vector layer. The tools, in this type of level, can help you to do so many things.

You can change your line size, the shape with control point and so on!

Watch the video to see how many things you can do with it!

I work with Mapping Pen, a preset brush in clip studio, setted with 100% stabilization so my lines can be more precise and cleaner.

Start to ink in the layer above the sketch one setted at 20% of opacity and be more precise that you can!

Flat Colors!

After that, with a new normal layer, under the ink one, you can start to color!

You can choose between flat and shaded colour, but the emoticons are very small and too many shadows can be lost after the upload, so be simple.

Don't forget to make a new layer for every part of color (face, eyes, hair etc).

Shadows and Lights

When you finished start with simple shadows, make a new layer above the flat one and apply the mask (clip to layer below) so your brush stays in the edges of the layer below.

Merge!

Then, for the final step, merge all layers (I suggest to make merge with a copy so you can modify the others if you don't like the result. How? Right click on a layer and "Merge visible to new layer")

Border

Then click on border effect, set into white with the size that you want, and you are done! (this step usually is required by apps as telegram, it helps to not mix the background with your sticker).

Export and Repeat!

Now you just need to export in png format or copy into the right size canvas and then export.(if you, like me, prefer to work into a bigger one).

Disclaimer: don't forget to turn off the background layer if you made one!

Repeat the steps for all your emoticons...

Sad

Angry

Love

...and it's done!

RGB and CMYK

Just another fast tips! If you want to print your stickers, maybe on a shirt or just for adhesive you need to know that in printed format your color will change.

The basic color style on your computer is "RGB" (means Red Green Blue)

and it has more shades than the "CMYK" (means Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black)

so your color may result a bit more "faded".

If you don't know how to convert your canvas in this color profile just follow the official tip of Clip Studio Paint!

Final

Well! Now you can enjoy with friends your new stickers!

Upload your sticker in your favorite App following the tutorials.

In the case of Telegram, there is a bot called "stickers" that will give you all tips to upload your work!

Hope you liked this tutorial, I'm really curious to see your future works!

Thanks for watching!
