JAHANA

I made my best this time and made a video!

I also added narration, so if you can take time, please watch the video!

There are some tips on how to look at your hands.

Hello everyone

This is JAHANA!

This time, I will talk about "Tips for drawing hands well"!

It's difficult to draw your hands, right?

I also have a hard time drawing each time.

However, after I learned the hints on how to draw them well, I became less conscious of it.

If you give a hint of how to draw your hand well, you must "see and draw"!

It's a simple thing that you can't do without thinking, but first of all, "drawing while looking at the actual hand" will lead to good drawing with a photograph or a mirror.

However, there are some tips on how to look at it!

There is a considerable difference in your progress between knowing the tips and not knowing them!

Now, as a model, I would like to explain how to sketch while actually looking at the photo of the hand.

Open hand sketch

Then, I will sketch the open hand, which is the most basic pose.

I think that if you can draw with us, you will understand better.

① Draw a rough shape of the palm

First of all, I will draw a rough shape of the palm of the hand while looking at the picture taken.

Since it is just a guide, you don't have to worry about accuracy.

② Draw a finger bone with a stick

Starting from the thumb, the bones of the fingers are represented by sticks.

After drawing in the bone of the index finger, draw an auxiliary line from the tip of the bone to determine the position of the tip of the middle finger.

Once I have a good idea, I will draw the bone line again.

Repeat this process to draw the bone lines of the remaining ring finger and little finger.

③ Put your fingers on your finger to follow the silhouette in the photo

After drawing all the lines of the finger bones, it is time to flesh the fingers.

I think it's better to take a closer look at the photo and draw a line with the image of tracing the silhouette of your finger.

When drawing a line, do not draw it as a single straight line, but stop it for each knuckle and draw a natural impression.

Let's add wrinkles as you like

It is almost completed when the outline of the hand is created.

However, depending on the style you want, you may want to add wrinkles on your hands.

In the case of anime and manga, it is common to draw wrinkles along the muscles that greatly extend on the thumb side and wrinkles between the ring finger and the little finger (lifeline and emotional line in palm reading).

If you want to make it more realistic, of course you should add wrinkles on each knuckle.

This completes the sketch of the open hand.

Sketch of clenched fist

Next, I will draw a hand in a grasped state, a so-called hand grip.

It may be easier to draw than an open hand.

① Draw a rough outline of the fist

Although I roughly sketched the shape of only the palm, the clenched fist is a simple elliptical shape, so in this case, I will roughly draw the shape of the entire fist.

② After drawing the thumb bone, draw an auxiliary line that serves as a guide for the joint

Once you have drawn the rough shape of the fist, add the bones of the thumb as before.

Before drawing the rest of the finger bones, this time draw an elliptical auxiliary line that hits the joint of the finger.

③ Add the rest of the finger bones using the auxiliary lines as a guide

The shape of the fist is simple, so once you get used to it, you will be able to draw it without drawing the bones of your fingers.

However, this time there is also the aim of wanting you to be aware of the structure of the hand as much as possible, so I will draw bone lines carefully.

④ Add meat

While looking at the picture as before, I will flesh the fingers while being aware of the silhouette.

First, let's draw from the thumb.

It is difficult to balance if you draw from parts that are hidden, so it is an iron rule to draw from the one that is in front as much as possible.

When you can draw your thumb, add the remaining fingers in order.

You may add wrinkles and shadows to the joints

In the case of a male hand, I think it may be possible to add the protrusion of the second joint of the finger.

Adding a shadow gives a three-dimensional effect.

The sketch of Nigiri is now complete!

How to deform based on a sketch

This time, I explained how to sketch a photo as it is.

However, some sketches may not be usable as they are.

Therefore, based on this sketch, I would like to explain a little about the deforming tips.

First of all, the deformation of the hand is conscious of the crisp short stroke wavy lines below.

Then, draw with sharp lines to emphasize the unevenness of joints and tendons.

Contrary to sketching, I think that if you omit wrinkles on your hand as much as possible, you will get the expression of a hand as in anime and manga.

If you can make such deformations, you can draw the female hand based on the male hand as shown in the image below.

Hand expression should not be a day

Hand expression is really difficult!

I think that it will be better if you practice little by little and become able to draw to some extent, and then learn about the ratio of bone and muscle structure, finger length, etc.!

Thanks for reading this far!

See you on another occasion!
