This is an explanation for those who want to use the dropper by pressing the side button with the tablet pen "floating" above the tablet.

I would like to briefly explain this using a Wacom tablet as an example.

I am writing this as a memorandum.

I am writing this based on the settings of a fairly old Wacom tablet, so I apologize if the settings are different from modern tablets.

[1] Setting Wacom tablet properties

・Open "Wacom Tablet Properties".

• Select the tablet pen you are using from the "Input device" field.

・If you have created a separate item for "CLIP Studio Paint" in the "Application" column, select it.

• There are setting tabs for pen/tail switch/mapping, etc., so select "Pen".

・There is a setting for the side switch of the pen, so as an example, I would like to assign a dropper to the side switch on the drawing side.

・Select the pull-down menu of the side switch on the drawing side and select "Click" > "Middle Button Click".

 

If you are planning to use "middle button click", you can also use "right button click".

This time I will explain using "middle button click".

 

・Next, select "Options" below.

・Select "Side Switch Expert Mode" > "Click while floating".

 

This completes the "Wacom Tablet Properties" settings.

[2] CLIP STUDIO PAINT settings

-Start CLIP STUDIO PAINT.

• Open the top "File" menu > "Modifier Key Settings".

• There are "common settings" and "settings for each tool process."

Please choose the one you need.

• If you use the slider to move the display to the bottom of the setting items for each modifier key, there will be an item for "middle click".

Select "Middle click" > "Temporarily change tools" > "Settings".

・I think there is "Eyedropper" > "Eyedropper" > "Get display color" or "Get color from layer". Choose the one you need.

・After selecting, select "OK".

 

Please check the operation on the canvas.

If you have configured the settings without any problems, you should be able to hold the tablet pen off the tablet and press the side switch of the tablet pen that you have set, and it will turn into a dropper and you will be able to drop the color.
