Drawing (rough sketch/inking)
[For those who think they might be beginners...]
If you are using Clip Studio Paint for the first time to draw a manga manuscript, you will be happy if you first check out "CLIP STUDIO PAINT Setup for Manga Production" and set up the app and interface. Maybe
Create Canvas
Menu [File] → [New]
As an example, I will create a B4 size manga manuscript paper (canvas) for commercial magazines and show you how to use the drawing tools.
① Purpose of work → [Comic]
② Decide the file name and save folder
③ Manuscript paper settings → [For commercial magazines]
④ Resolution is 600dpi (or follow instructions)
⑤ [Multiple pages] Turn it ON if necessary
Binding position->[Right binding]
Start page->[From the left]
The binding position and start page settings are general. Follow any instructions.
Create layers
Create a layer for drawing
There are two types of layers for line drawing: 1. Raster layer (solid and filter processing also possible) 2. Vector layer (can be processed later, solid color not possible) You can create new layers by using the icon in the layer palette or the menu command [Layer] → [New Layer].
Vector layers, which can be operated on a line-by-line basis, have conveniences and features that raster layers do not have. Try them out when you have time and see if they are useful for your own drawings.
[POINT] The icon display in the layer palette changes depending on the palette width. If you want to display all the icons, expand the palette width a little.
Create a sketch layer
① Turn on [Set as sketch layer] ② Turn on [Layer] color ③ Double-click on the text part where the layer name is written to change the layer name
[POINT] You can also create a layer for sketches using the "Create sketch layer" action registered in the initial (default) state of the [Action] palette. It is also useful to register it in quick access.

② Select [Pencil] in the [SubTool] palette

② Select [G-Pen] in the [Sub Tool] palette
③ Adjust the brush size in the [Tool Options] palette
Property display [Slider] and [Indicator]
There are two types of display for the property's numeric setting: [Slider Display] and [Indicator Display]. If you want to quickly select a specific value, it is convenient to use [Indicator Display].
Draw a straight line freehand
You can set the [Post correction] in the tool property to draw straight lines freely by hand.
① Sub Tool Details [Correction] -> [Post correction] & [Bézier curve] Show [eye] icon
② Click the ▲ icon -> [Copy display state] -> [Copy to all sub tools in the same group]
③ Turn on [Post correction] and [Bezier curve] in [Tool property]
If you set [Post correction] to 100, you can correct the lines you draw to straight lines after drawing them.
Don't forget to turn [Bezier curve] ON (turning it ON makes it easier for pen pressure to be reflected)
erase
Erasing the rough sketch lightly
For rough sketches and rough drafts, the [Soft] subtool of the [Eraser] tool is useful.
Erase with a pen
If you are drawing on a raster layer, you can select [Transparent] as the color while using the pen tool to make it work the same as an eraser.
You can use the shortcut key [c] to switch between the main color and transparent color.
Erase with selection
If you want to erase a large area at once, it is convenient to create a selection and delete it with the [del/BS] key.

・Select a color with [Color] at the bottom of the tool palette
