Introduction

I'd like to say that I hope this tutorial will help you to start making your own princesses!

First, I like to start with the band over the top. I'm doing this without a drawing of a person underneath, but you can use one if you want. I used the G-Pen for this tutorial, and also the symmetry ruler always comes in handy for beginners.

Top of the Dress

Next, I draw the top of the dress and sleeves. You can make these puffed or tight-fitting. Add the belt too if you are drawing one. Don't add detail at this point.

Skirt

Now, draw a basic skirt. You can make it really big and puffy!

Now, do an overlayer of the skirt. I think 2 layers looks fine. You can leave this step out if you like.

Now, I think I might make the belt a little narrower.

Drawing the Detals

At this stage, I like to start adding the detail, such as the corset and detail of the overlayer. See how much better it looks when we add detail? And it's simple enough too!

Colouring

Now you can start adding colour! I normally draw in shades of pink, but you can use whatever colour you like!

Shading and Highlights

Next, add shading. You can just leave it in flat colour if you like.

Finally, if it is relevant, add highlights. If you want it to be made of silk, add highlights. If it's cotton or linen, the highlights aren't needed.

Finished!

Now it's finished! I'll now add someone underneath to show what it looks like.

Hopefully this tutorial will inspire you to make your own princess characters! Have fun drawing!
