Water: water drops and reflection
Hello
On this tutorial you will learn how to draw water drops and water inside a transparent object.
This tutorial starts by understanding how reflection works in water, moving on to the basics of drops and water and how to draw it.
Water Reflection
Transparent objects like water, reflects the surrounding environment. Also, keep in mind that if you want to draw an object, you also have to draw their reflections on the edge of the water. Remember, when you draw an object, the underwater part, will be shifted because of how the light changes your perseption.
We start by drawing a glass, with the shape we like best. Rememeber, everything will be worked in different layers. Using G-Pen draw black and bluish gray lines, which will be blended using Smooth Watercolor. For the liquid inside the glass, use Opaque Watercolor. Proceed by adhering the reflected shadow of the glass. This is not as complicated as it seems. Draw two perpendicular lines and blend them following the shape of the glass, add another bluish color and do the same.
For the water drops always remind to follow the shape of the glass.
In this case the reflected object is a petal, but it can be anything else like a slice of lemon or a little umbrella.
Water Drop
A can full of water drops.
Water drops reflect their surroundings. Since a water drop has volume, it reflects objects towards its opposite site. You can see it with the drops on the can. The red color of the can can be seen reflected in the top of the water drops.
As water drops are transparent objects, it cast shadows towards the light. This means, that under the drop, there is also light.
We start by drawing a sketch of our water drop. Then, decide where the lights come from. Continue painting the shadow parts with Opaque Watercolor and the lights with Dense Watercolor.
Remove the sketched lines, and add more colour and shadow to our drop, to give it shape. With G-Pen paint white lines.
Water Bottle
A plastic bottle full of water.
The water inside the bottle will contain the light in the middle as well as reflecting the colors of its surrounding environment.
(1) Start drawing a bottle and fill it with a base color. As we did with the glass, using G-Pen, paint the botton of the bottle with black, following its shape. Using dense watercolor, paint the contours of the bottle with a grayish tone and blend it using Smooth Watercolor. (2) Place water drops and subtly paint the inside of the bottle with blue. Again, with G-Pen, define the bright parts of our bottle. (3) Paint the gloss of the droplets. (4) Do the final touches, such as deepening the color of the water or if you like, adding bubbles as in the presentation bottle.

Shower
Water of a shower, due to the pressure, comes out sprayed.
Draw our shower and settle the base colors. For the wall I will draw some ceramics using lines, then we paint the shadow of the shower with a darker tone and for the brightness, create a new layer and modify its properties to add glow.
With the spray, paint the area where the water will be. Then, with the shape of a parabola in mind, draw the water. For the reflection of the shower in the mosaic, paint a line with dense watercolor and blur it with smooth watercolor. Add some long and short water drops with G-Pen.
Now, we can add the white water drops with G-Pen. If you want, it can be add some steam. I use Opaque Watercolor for that.
Depending on the color you choose to paint your bathroom, the water being a transparent object will reflect that color.
I hope this tutorial has been useful and you have learned how to draw drops in a proper and realistic way.
See you soon.
