Hi everyone 😁

Since spring is coming up, I’m gonna give you some tips for creating your own floral wallpaper for your phone

Now, I know you can look up flowers on the Internet, but drawing them by hand can be just as enjoyable.

Drawing flowers is as simple as drawing a circle, because there’s no right way to do it. All you need to do is make sure that the center is defined, meaning, you know it’s a circle in the middle

So here are my top 5 tips for creating that screensaver

Let’s go! 😄

Tip 1: Start from a circle

If you’re new to flower drawing, it’s best to use a circle as a base for your flower

When you break up a flower into simple shapes, it’s nothing more than a circle, with ovals growing out of it!

Let me show you:

You see, the circle’s in the middle, and the ovals surround it. It’s like drawing a cloud around a circle.

Think of that when you begin the flower’s sketch.

Tip 2: Lasso Fill

They’re those of you who like lineless art.

Drawing lineless flowers is the same as if you were to sketch them.

The only difference is that you’ll need a different tool.

Select the Lasso Fill tool on your Clip Studio dashboard.

Next, select a color from the color palette

Finally, draw the flower’s shape; it’ll fill in automatically.

(You can use the lasso fill tool to draw a flower’s shape; it fills in automatically)

Tip 3: Put it on Paper!

If you have an idea of what you’d like your screensaver to look like, it’s best to rough sketch it out.

Not only does this show where your flowers are, it serves as great guide for if you lasso them; you just follow the sketch.

You can also change your Lock Screen to a blank white page, take a snapshot of it, and then import it onto your illustration page.

Open another layer over it, and sketch your flowers!

Something like this

This helps you quickly get ideas down, and have a virtual scene that’ll show what you’re wallpaper will look like.

Tip 4: Special Effects

You can see the difference between the two pictures, even though they’re of the same flowers!

Adding detail can really enhance your artwork and make it more appealing, as well as more 3D

What if you don’t want a 3D effect? Below is one of the screensavers I made.

This one isn’t 3D, obviously, but it is sparkly. I used clipping masks and the glitter effect brush to create this effect with the tulip. I also used a circle as the base, since I wanted the flower turned to the side, and I wasn’t sure how to draw it that way.

With this next screensaver, I used multiple blending effects to smooth out the light and shadow for the flowers.

I also used the Real G-Pen on the flowers themselves to add the line detail

In order to use the effects, you need to find this brush:

(The waterdrops)

There, you’ll find the different blending settings, as well as the Liquify tool, that you can use to add concept and perspective to your flowers.

Tip 5: Theme

This tip, Theme, may be the most important tip. What are you trying to say. What emotions do you want your blossoms to convey? Depending on those questions is how you sketch, fill, and display your blooms.

I designed this one with the forest in mind, but after I added the effects, I noticed it looked very foggy and damp. It looked kind of like something you’d find at the jungle, or on a spa commercial.

You could even find something like this on a perfume bottle!

If you want to express sadness, exaggerate the petals of your flowers, making them droopy and the background moody.

If you’re wanting to go for a peppy style, make the flowers bright and exuberant, and the background just the same, with pastel colors.

Want to mix them both? You can express one emotion with the flowers, and another with the background. You can also use the gradients on Clip Studio as the background.

Fill in the background first! This’ll set the tone for both your flowers and their style. This background, although a little optimistic, can also represent melancholy or healing from a difficult time.

This background has the same colors! They’re just lighter now, and can represent innocence, joy, or even youth.

Aaaand, there you have it!

Those are my top 5 tips for creating floral screensavers. I hope you have a lot of fun drawing them as we come closer to the season.

Have fun! 😁😁🌺🌸🌹
