This tutorial covers hand-drawing ballpoint pen illustrations and digitally coloring them with Clip Studio Paint. It also introduces ways to use finished illustrations as materials within the program.

I draw manga. I also draw illustrations using colored ink and Photoshop, etc.

 

Art materials used:

・ Pilot Juice ballpoint pen (extra fine 0.38 mm, black)

・ Muse Sketch SC book (SC-9055, size B5)

 

For this tutorial, I used a gel ink ballpoint pen and a drawing pad, but you could even make these with just a regular ballpoint pen and some printer paper.

I drew the above illustration using a ballpoint pen.

For this tutorial, I drew retro fancy accessories. I used a loose drawing style as if I were doodling, purposefully leaving gaps in the line art.

 

Since I will choose the illustrations I want to use in Clip Studio Paint, I leave the ones with mistakes as they are and continue drawing each one in another area on the same sheet of paper.
