Hello my name is Rodrigo Moran I am a photographer I like illustration and animation. I wanted to share the way I found to be able to re draw an image and give it loop animation using only 24 frames. I also like to ride a logboard and take pictures of my friends, I will use a photo that I took some time ago that will be perfect for this tutorial. Let's start redrawing ..

How to redraw an image easily

1- We create a new canvas of animation

First we will start with growing our animation canvas, we will simply go to File> new> Animation

2 - Add Image> Reduce opacity> Create a vector layer.

a - Enter the desired image to the layer panel.

b - Reduce the opacity of the image to the desired half or percentage, this will help us to better trace our drawing.

c - Create a VECTOR layer above our image, this layer will contain our line work.

a layer of VECTORS (it is important that it is a vector layer for line work, since they do not lose quality by reducing or increasing their size).

In the LAYER OF VECTORS we will draw our line work, for that we will use G-Pen, Continuous Lines for the longest strokes and the rubber to erase the necessary impressions.

d - We will draw the outline of the character using the pen, continuous line for long lines or strokes and the rubber to correct or erase exedents.

c - In a new layer of VECTORS we carry out the work of lines for our fund.

3 - Duplicate line layer

We create a new ANIMATION FOLDER and select the work of lines that we want to animate and copy it with CTRL + C and paste it into the animation folder with CTRL + V. (do not worry if you do not see it immediately, there is a step missing more) Then we place ourselves in the middle of the timeline of our animation approx. frame number 12 and with a right click we will see our line layer in the options. Selecting it will be added to our timeline.

a - Create a new ANIMATION FOLDER, this folder will contain the animation of the line work.

b - Select the VECTORS layer of our character, copy it and paste into the ANIMATION FOLDER. (CTRL + C = copy, CTRL + V = paste)

c - We are located in our timeline in the middle or frame number 12, with a right click the options will be displayed, we will look for our copied layer and it will be inserted in the timeline.

d - We duplicate our vector layer and turn off the original layer. We activate the onion layers.

e - We are located at the beginning of our animation and with a right click we select the new copy of the vector layer, to insert it in our timeline.

f - Once our second layer is inserted at the beginning, we will change its size to achieve the effect approaching the camera. To do this, selecting the desired layer, press "scale / rotate" or "CTRL + T" the fasteners will appear to change the size, (Remember to keep SHIFT pressed to scale without deforming)

g - Repeat, double again our character, changing its size and place it at the end of our animation, with right click and select the desired copy.

h - We already have our KEY PHOTOGRAPHS, now it remains to continue doubling, accommodating and scaling the intermediate frames to achieve the most fluid animation possible.

After copying, scaling and accommodating all our vector layers, we can see our lines in motion! and we are ready to fill them with color.

4 - Base Colors

We create a NEW ANIMATION FOLDER for our color, below our LINES folder.

For Coloring we will use the paint bucket and the G-pen,

(Ensure that you have activated the option "do not exempt the lines of the REFERENCE layer").

Before starting the color make sure that your vector line layer is marked as REFERENCE LAYER, you just have to select the desired layer and click on the icon similar to a lighthouse, then in the BASE COLORS folder we begin to paint all Our frames one by one, is a repetitive and very passive work but it will be worth the final result.

We already have animated lines and base colors! Now only the background and details remain.

5 - Background and details

With our animation ready, we only have to paint our background as we like and add effects (optional).

a - We create a new ANIMATION FOLDER for our fund. where we will place our LAYER OF VECTORS in the background and give it color by creating a new layer below.

b - Explore all gradient options and create your versions. experiment until you find the colors indicated for your background.

c - Textures and Effects you will find in the MATERIALS, if you do not see the materials window you can find it in Window> Materials. I recommend you explore to find the final touch.

d - You can add secondary animations or some detail, I make some white lines that generate skidding effect, it is optional but play with your imagination.

If you got here, I appreciate it. Spending hours or days to generate seconds can be a bit frustrating at first. But my advice is to try it because it is worth it and the most important thing in VERY FUN, If you have any TIP to provide or any questions I read your comments.

FINAL RESULT Looping animation with 24 frames

Time lapse of work in 1 minute.
