magical fruits! FX with Dodge Layers and highlights!
Intro
Hello again Clip Studio Paint users, I bring you some new tips that you can use in your creations.
Sketch (Lemon)
As usual, because from my real fruits that I had in front of me, I made a quick sketch of them.
Definition of Base Colors
Later I define my base color, as well as the input of light and shadow, in this case I worked like this
Main light source definition
At this point it starts to get more fun, because we will define a first magic light, but not before generating a new layer, and in this layer we will select the next layer mode
Dodge (brightness). After that we are going to select a soft brush and we are going to apply the color where we have our light source
As I indicate them here.
detailing
Having this we will go on to the details, for this there is nothing else but to get down to work and begin to draw the details delicately, likewise we will define the reflected shadow! As you can see in the image.
1st Lighting
We go to a new layer as usual. And again we go to the "Dodge (brightness)" layer mode but this time we will change to a color that can contrast and imagine the effect that occurs, in my case I imagined that this normal Lemon was going to fall a kind of spell! and well what your imagination tells you!
And now we will apply with a soft brush also with the layer mode selected something like this.
Here we are already generating the FX more clearly, the layer mode also allows the colors to be compacted!
Spell!
I imagined a kind of enchantment that would fall on the lemon so I did with a color in a high value I made our spell that will make this lemon a fruit with a supernatural power! hehehehehe like that.
And to give it even more magic and power I made another layer, and I selected in this new layer the "Add (glow)" mode
After this I passed a soft brush over the beam and it generates a very special FX, leaving my power beam with much more presence.
Genial!
final lights
Finally when my lemon is already loaded with this magical power, in a new layer I made some small reflection lights and I selected the layer mode again of "dodge brightness"
Sketch (Radish)
Let's make this Radish an elvish fruit! I'll pretty much use the same principles of the dodge layer modes,
We define Colors, as well as define light source and Reflected shadow
Turning into elven fruit!
At this point I thought of a color that contrasts with the radish and that would give it a supernatural touch
Something like this...
We generate a new layer to put the following FX, if we want for example to highlight the lights like the ones I put and make them as if the fruit had some kind of magical substance, in this case I selected the "Add" layer mode and with a brush soft and a not very saturated blue color we pass it subtly, here I give you an idea.
Reflected light and End
At this point I already have my fruit to put the background and I wanted to make a reflection, it is also important that we make the reflected light in another layer with the same color and a soft brush
And Finally, our Radish as an elven fruit! I leave the story to your imagination!
Don't forget to give the article a like if you liked it.
Until next time!
