Generate Realistic glow (textures)
Introduction
Hello again ClipStudio Users, today I will show you a super trick to generate a beautiful realistic shine when it comes to metal-textures (Iron, steel, silver, bronze, brass, and gold) with this structure we can apply the shine and get a beautiful highlight in creations that have metallic textures.
I would also like to say that we will learn roughly how the textures of this style work in terms of densities, as this influences the way light reflects.
texture base
Initially I have my texture, in this case of iron, this has a higher density therefore its light absorption coefficient is higher and it does not reflect with intensity, so in this case we will be very punctual when analyzing and applying the highlight, will depend on the ambient light. We then have this:
In this way I have built the bases of Shadow and Light in the other textures, and I have conceived their order in this way: from higher density of material to lower density, why? because the higher the density, the higher the absorption coefficient, which means that the light reflects less, and we will have a more prominent shadow. Look, for example, at the base of the Steel, which would be the next density.
Here we already begin to see the reflection and the reflected light, and the shadow begins to dim. look at the silver, and its level of reflected light.
Attention, here I am only showing you the base of the textures, in the video you will see the comparison I made with the normal layer and its respective highlight, however let's continue.
Remember, Higher density, less reflection of light, less density, more reflection. :)
Bronze, Brass and Gold practically work the same way in terms of density and reflection, what changes is in tint, saturation and the way the material absorbs light. In the video I show you one by one.
light application
Before we add the glow with layer mode, we'll make the light on a new layer above the texture that we'll apply the light to, I'll show you my choice of light on the Steel...
If you look closely, here you can already see my light applied in the case of Steel. We don't have the shine yet, wait and continue! hahaha
Then comes the automation and you will see the delicate and beautiful change that will be presented, let's continue to the next section.
Highlight and "Add Brightness"
After having my light applied to the corresponding layer, what we are going to do is the following, we go to the layer mode selector with our layer selected, in this case, the light layer.
We unfold, and then we select
Add glitter, as you can see in the image. We select, and automatically ClipStudio will give us a beautiful realistic shine for our textures. and so we have the following.
And look at our extremely compact light with the base and the light diffusion, and this same process we apply on all the Highlight layers of our textures, to enhance the light and give it that deeper and more realistic lighting effect giving a final outline like East,
Very nice huh?
I want to emphasize that we will use this structure and we can use it in our creations with this scheme if we were to have, for example, a character's weapon or some object that shines and has these materials in its texture. So with this we understand the behavior of the shadow, the light and the reflected light to later apply it in our illustrations, great right???
