THITAart

Features of 3D

➤ Good at handling:

Recurring object

Buildings, interiors, etc.

➤ It may be harder:

Complex natural organic matter

3D assist vs 2D perspective

➤ 3D assistance

Can rotate and adjust the angle

There are many angles in operation, which takes more time

Two-point perspective without "perfect vertical" on the Z axis

➤ 2D perspective

It almost needs to be redrawn to change the angle 😂

Fast and convenient operation

Able to draw two-point perspective on the Z-axis "fully perpendicular"

When to use 3D assistance?

3D assistance can be used freely

But I think the following situations will be more efficient:

➤ "Many similar objects" appear repeatedly

(It is better to have many rotations ^ ^

➤ Where there are many indoor scenes and artificial objects

Like libraries, supermarkets, restaurants, streets, etc.

➤ Repeated scenes in the comics

➤ Just have suitable 3D materials, occasions where you don’t need to prepare by yourself

(You need to pay attention to copyright issues!

It may be more efficient to draw directly

➤ Where natural scenery and organic matter are arranged irregularly

Like forests, valleys, etc.

Because of irregular shapes, using 3D will take more time and effort than 2D

Even if there are materials, many adjustments are needed to arrange them so that they are not stiff.

If you want to complete the illustration, it is recommended not to use 3D

My 3D background Tips

I like to download all kinds of 3D model materials

But it always feels unsuitable, something strange...?

Here to share the 3D auxiliary background production process starting from the draft~

Will use the free and open source 3D software Blender

Suitable for those who already know how to model and want to understand application methods

gather information

It’s the same as the “setup draft” before making 3D

Because the angle of 3D is infinite

So before making an illustration, it’s best to roughly confirm the direction

What kind of environment is it like? What's the atmosphere?

What will probably be there? What actions does the character have to do?

It is recommended to use the sketch to confirm the direction before making 3D assistance

Imagine the atmosphere around the character

And collect pictures online

Sketch

After collecting to a certain extent

You can start drafting~

I like this perspective grid very much myself <3

You can use it by dragging it to the canvas~

Rotate to your favorite angle to draw

Don't draw too fine

You can try many different angles

Because I think there are too many 3D colors

So after turning the angle

Execute [Layer▻Raster Layering]

Then use the layer panel to make it a lighter monochrome

The rasterized 3D layer will come with a ruler

Can be used to refine drafts

You can align the ruler by pressing the button above

The draft is drawn to this level

Ready to enter 3D

Next, we will use the free and open source 3D software Blender

Modeling and simple material processing

Bring the perspective of the draft to the 3D camera

Before officially entering Blender

You can use fSpy, a free and open source plugin

Import a camera with the same perspective as the draft

It is a software that can be opened separately after downloading

Put the draft (or any other picture)

Drag into fSpy and it will open by itself

Check [Rectangle Mode] and a plane (maybe intersecting) will appear

Align the plane with perspective

Note that the Z axis stays up

If you think the sketch is dark

Uncheck the [Dim image] box

Then go to the upper right corner [File] to save a fspy file

Blender can read fspy files after installing the fSpy plug-in

Will read in a camera with a background image

like this

The fixed fSpy camera is driving on the right

Modeling from various angles on the left

Modeling material

Place the model roughly according to the sketch

You will find some unreasonable places in the original sketch

After placing the 3D character as a scale

Many bugs in the sketch will be more obvious

At this time, you can modify it directly in 3D

If it is creative

You can also make various interesting attempts in 3D

Just fix the unreasonable part

Refine the model on one side

At the same time, you can also make some materials

If it’s a comic style, simple color blocks and shadows will be great

3D materials will also bring perspective

It's a very convenient thing~

synthesis

I will use 3D to calculate several versions of the picture

Into CSP synthesis

If you think the 3D material is too realistic

You can also use CSP's [Filter▻Effect▻Illustration Style]

Color block

My value

It depends on what style you like~

The result of my synthesis this time

Only the part of the sea is hand-painted and corrected

Other parts retain the effects of 3D and filters

Concluding remarks

I feel facing a blank paper

It’s hard to imagine the "sense of space"

Even the ruler tool of Clip Studio Paint is very convenient

But I still don’t know how to deal with the background better

I often feel that the painting seems weird...?

But the more you fix it, the weirder it gets !

I think it’s a great thing to use 3D assistance at this time

The method of corresponding to the "three-dimensional space" through the "camera"

It can also better learn the proportions of objects, etc.

This method is my own experiment

There should be many shortcomings and parts that can be improved

If you have any suggestions, please leave a message and let me know

I hope to help you watching
