3 Functions of 3D Models that You Should Know
Introduction
Hello, my name is Mari, you can find me on social networks as mares_bm. In this tutorial, I'll show you three 3D model features that you can use to speed up the creation of your webtoon.
Advantages of using 3d models
Using 3D models offers many advantages. One of the main ones is the speed with which we can create different angles for our characters. Additionally, 3D models allow us to maintain consistency in proportions and poses throughout all vignettes, and make it easier to experiment with new ideas and compositions.
1.- Using the Panoramic Function
With the pan function, you can move your characters and the background where they are located. It is especially useful in the creation of comics and webtoons because it allows us to find the best framing for our cartoons.
There are several panoramic scenes that you can find in Clip Studio Assets
How to insert a panoramic image to our 3D model
1.-We place the 3D model of our preference
2.-We click on the tool figure and this way we can see all the functions that the 3d model has.
3.-We look for the panoramic function and click on "Materials". A dialog box will open in which the panoramic materials that we can choose will appear.
4.-We choose the panorama we want, and it will open along with the 3D model.
Mobilize the scene
Controls can help us mobilize the entire scene
The first control allows you to rotate the camera and change the viewing angles.
The second control allows you to move the camera from left to right and up and down.
The third control allows you to zoom in or out of the camera.
How can the panoramic function help you?
The panning function helps you create complex scenes with multiple characters. After adjusting the characters as you prefer, you can move the camera to find the best frame and angle for your vignette.
With the panoramic function, you can move your characters and also the environment where they are, you can experiment with different angles.
2.- Change of Proportions of the 3D Model
3D models allow you to change their proportions to match the characteristics of your characters. Not only does this make the characters look more authentic, but it also helps maintain visual consistency in your comic or webtoon.
Change the proportions of the head:
1.- We choose the head that best suits us, there are several options available.
2.- If we have a model of our character, we select the head and place it below our model head.
3.- We open the properties of the head model and go to the “facial features” option.
4.- We change its proportions, the size of the eyes, eyebrows, nose, nose, ears, forehead size, etc.
Save your 3D head model
To save the model, we have to go to the option, “head model” and click on register material.
We put the name of our character and save it in “head” or wherever you prefer, so we can use it in the future.
Change body proportions:
1.- We choose the model that best suits us; There are several options available.
2.- After choosing the model, we go to the properties and select "3d Figure".
3.- To change the character from more robust to thinner, we go to the bar next to the body in the "3D Figure" property.
4.- You can modify each part of the body separately. Click on the body parts and adjust the proportions of arms, head, neck, waist, shoulders, feet, legs, hips, bust, etc.
Save your 3d body model
1.- We enter the model properties, click on "3D Figure" and then on "Register material".
2.- We enter a model name and save it, either in "Body Type" or wherever you prefer.
3.- Change of poses
There are several ways to change the pose of 3D models.
1.- We can modify the pose of the model using the joint controls. This will help you create a pose from scratch. I recommend that you add curves to the pose to make it look more dynamic.
2.- You can search for poses in Clip Studio Assets.
2.1.- When downloading the pose, drag it to the model and it will change pose instantly.
3.- Use the camera to modify the poses, you can modify the pose of the hands and the entire body.
Use the perspective function
This function is found in the model properties, in the "Camera 1" option.
I hope this tutorial has been useful to you. Have fun using the 3D models to your advantage. These models are a great help, as they serve as a guide and allow us to create compositions from scratch over and over again until we are satisfied.
