Create and register materials!
This article is based on the tablet version of Clip Studio Paint.
The layout of menu commands may vary in the smartphone version.
You cannot create or register materials in Simple Mode. Please switch to Studio Mode to use it. Materials such as brushes, images, and body shapes of 3D drawing figures registered in Studio Mode can also be used in Simple Mode.
It is convenient to register frequently used brush settings, images, layer configurations, etc. as materials so that you can use them repeatedly.
Create image material
In the Layers palette, select the layer or image you want to register as a material, then choose Edit menu > Image > Register Material, or select Register Image as Material from the Material palette menu.
When the Material property dialog box appears, enter the necessary information to use it as an image material.
Creating brush materials
You can create your own custom brushes by customizing the brush stroke, combining multiple patterns to create a multi brush, or setting images as the brush tip for a decoration brush.
Check this series of articles for more information on how to create various brushes.
[Note]
If you want to use a brush created in Studio Mode, in Simple Mode, click the + symbol in the brush list and select Import from Studio Mode.
Registering 3D materials
You can register 3D materials individually, or register multiple materials as 3D layers.
Registering a single 3D object
You can select a 3D object with the Object tool, and register the 3D material to the Material palette from the object launcher that appears at the bottom.
Registering multiple materials as 3D layers
You can add hats or glasses to your 3D drawing figure or head model, add small objects to a background set, or register multiple frequently used materials in combination.
Select the 3D layer you want to register, then select Edit menu > Register Material > Image.
The materials you create can be used as a rough sketch for drawing character lineart, or as part of your work.
See this article for more information on how to register 3D materials.
Please refer to the User Guide for instructions on how to register other materials.
