Out of the Tips posted between December 1, 2019, to January 6, 2020, the writers of the following will be rewarded a cash prize or GOLD!

The themes this time were “Space and Scifi,” “Gradients,” and “Seasons Greetings.” The submissions for the Space and Scifi theme saw many tips on how to draw fantastic starry skies and backgrounds. It was exciting to see the different techniques used and the artistic expression of each artist. With regards to Gradients, tips on how to create this effect were particularly prominent, with many going into great depth for beginners. We also received many tutorials of high-quality greeting card designs for the Seasons Greetings theme. Whatever design you choose, they are all perfect examples to try out! Submissions for the next Tips of the Month have already started. We are looking forward to seeing your entries!

Gold Award

  1. This tutorial explains everything about creating color gradients in Clip Studio Paint. The illustrations are easy to understand, and it's a must-read for beginners.
  2. This is a tutorial about creating an exploding box with many cute tricks using the iPad version of Clip Studio Paint. It covers how to prepare the size of your file and how to create a grid. It also gives multiple options for the cards attached to the inside of the box.
  3. The first half shows how to create tiny pop-up greeting cards, sure to make anyone smile. This tutorial presents a vast amount of educational content in a unique story-like fashion with a sci-fi theme. It does a wonderful job explaining how to draw aliens and space landscapes using helpful animated gifs.
  7. This is an original tutorial about how to create a three-dimensional greeting card. Since the process of cutting and pasting the papercraft is so carefully documented, you can have a lot of fun following along and making one yourself!
  8. The gradient map allows you to make extreme color changes down to minute details. This tutorial gives an array of examples via easy-to-understand images and covers aspects such as layer order and color selection.
