How I illustrate my paper drawings to digital

Step 1: Obtaining your drawing

First I would want to obtain The image by taking a picture. Any camera should work in theory, but for this I used my phone to take a picture with the genius scan app (The regular photos app works too).

Next from The phone; I have a great amount of options, but the two I suggest as both of these methods do work:

I can either Send it to Myself through The saved messages or I can post it somewhere in discord and save it from there. (if I don't want anyone seeing yet then I will find somewhere empty to do so).

(this will be the image l'use as example)

Step 2: Inserting your drawing into clip studio paint

First what I would do is open clip studio and start a new project by clicking the draw button to enter clip studio paint. From here I Could do on of two things:

1. I can create a new illustration and then add the image to the canvas (it is in the file tab and you click import to add the image)

2. If the tab for a new illustration pops up then I would close that, then click the file button to open the image that I have saved as a new project (in the edit tab you can change the canvas size if it's too small for you).

Step 3: Outlining your drawing + mini steps & tips

from here it can become simple, or it becomes a little complicated because their might be some line changes showing some lines from your original image don't fit as well as the others, but if you aren't changing any of the lines then it should be a simple Part. (I recommend a pen tool, but almost anything should work)

Tip: coloring

When coloring, it's better to know what colors to make the drawing. But if your like me then you will eventually find some colors that will work well with the said drawing.

Tip 2: background

There's a lot of things that you could probably do for your background but the 3 was I would use it is:

1. Using the gradient tool I would Mix and match colors that i have already used, or a location like gradient and fit the color scheme. (Ex: beach, sea, sky, etc.)

2. Draw a more proper background meaning it would have Trees, grass, clouds, water, etc.

3. Using a picture made from someone or something (with permission and credit if needed)

The solid image of my finished product
