I will write an article for creators who register stock illustrations in Japanese.

The first part outlines the general flow of illustration creation using CLIP STUDIO PAINT (Clip Studio), and the second part explains useful functions and tools.

 

Since many illustrations centered on people are registered in the picture, it would be nice if it would be helpful.

 

 

About software outline and settings

I think that Clip Studio is an excellent software for lightness, functionality and cost performance.

The illustrations registered in the document are from rough to line drawing and coloring in the clip studio.

 

There are useful functions for drawing such as image stabilization, vector layers, various rulers, etc., and it becomes possible to express difficult in other image processing software such as Photoshop.

 

 

 

Before creating an illustration, check the settings.

 

 

■ 1. Determine the canvas size on the new creation screen.

"300dpi" is recommended as the resolution, but there is no problem if created with "72dpi (for web display)".

(The size of the image is determined by the number of px)

 

For example, when printing on A3 size paper, the size of "3508 px × 4961 px" is required.

You can cover the standard of large illustrations (XL size in terms of PIXTA) by creating roughly "about 5000px in height and width" as a guide.

 

 

■ 2. In the "Color conversion" of the environment settings, "sRGB" is recommended as the RGB profile setting.

(Most monitors conform to sRGB, and there are few color differences when converted to CMYK)

 

 

 

Flow of illustration production

Basically, illustrations will proceed with simple operations such as layer operations and pen tools and fill tools.

 

1. In the layer property effect "Layer color", the line is made blue to reduce the transparency. I will make this a draft.

 

2. Create a new layer on top of the draft and draw a line drawing. Fixing is easier if you draw your face, hair, clothes, etc. on different layers.

 

3. Coloring works the same way if you separate layers for each color.

Finally, layers are organized for each folder, such as "line art", "color", "background", etc.

 

 

 

1. Make your coloring task comfortable by creating your own "Color Palette" layer.

Make a collection of commonly used colors such as skin color and hair color so that you can easily get them with a dropper.

 

2. I think that the work will go better if you register the action of putting layers into folders in the shortcut setting.

• The shortcut key settings can be set in the [File] menu (macOS: [CLIP STUDIO PAINT] menu) → [Shortcut Settings] → [Create Folder and Insert Layer].

 

 

About using with Photoshop

 

The illustrations published in the Japanese style are created in the clip studio, moved to Photoshop, and completed by adding textures and adjusting colors.

 

Compared to other software, I think that Photoshop has an advantage in terms of image processing such as composition, correction, and color adjustment.

 

 

Clip Studio is very useful because it reads Photoshop native data.

 

However, it is not possible to transfer data such as layer effects, rulers, and vector layers as points of caution.

Therefore, it is useful to save the image data in the form of ".clip", ".psd" and ".jpg" in case you need to re-edit.

It is a site that sells advertising materials (photographs, illustrations and videos) that started service in 2006.

Professionals and amateurs can register if they register, and the submitted work will be released after being reviewed for suitability.
