Line art with continuous curve - for beginners
Introduction
Hi, I'm Jumep.
This time I want to share some small examples and some recommendations to use the continuous curve tool, especially for those who are just starting out with the Clip Studio Paint program.
Many times making a clean linear takes a lot of time, however, we can save time if we make the outline of the drawing with the [Continuous curve] tool.
To start, I would like to make a series of recommendations to work with this tool.
recommendations
It works better with the [Continuous curve] if we have a sketch, this allows us to have a better vision of what we want to do, in addition to that the true potential of this tool is found when we work on a [Vector layer], this allows us edit the strokes as much as you like with the line and correction sub-tools, having said that, let's get started !!!
The first thing I do is lower the opacity of my sketch to a reasonable point that allows me to draw the lines comfortably, in this case I leave it at 40% opacity. This depends on how your sketch looks.
Continuous curve
Next, I make a [Vector layer] in which I will work with the [Continuous curve] tool.
Then I go to the [Figure] tool and select the [Continuous Curve] - [Quadratic Bézier] sub-tool
This tool is quite practical, each click we make will mark a control point that determines the position of the line, this way we are clicking along the line of the sketch taking care to follow the line we want.
As its name indicates, the [Continuous Curve] will continue to draw whenever we click, if we want to stop drawing at a specific point we only have to double-click to the desired point.
Redraw line width
The [Continuous Curve] tool will leave the entire line the same thickness, but if we want to give it more style we can change the thickness of specific points with another sub-tool.
To do this we go to the line and correction tool and select the [Redraw vector line width] sub-tool.
We go to the part of the line that we want to make wider or thinner, if we pass the pencil gently the line will become thin, on the contrary if we press with the pencil the line will become thicker, it all depends on the configuration of the tool.
Move lines - [Pinch vector line]
Something important is that if we want to adjust the line that we have drawn to match the sketch, we can do it thanks to the vector layer, for example:
In this example I move it over the top to show how it works.
To do this we use the [Pinch vector line] sub-tool.
Likewise, in [Fix end] I select the option to fix both ends, this means that we are editing an open line the tips of the ends will not move.
Here is another example of this tool.
With [Pinch Vector Line] - [Fix End] - [Fix Both Ends] I can move and bend the center of the line, but the end points will never move from their position because we have already fixed them.
Now, we can continue delineating the outline of the drawing.
Details
As I said before, the continuous curve is great to make long strokes, or to make the outline of the drawing, however, for small details such as the eyes, among others, I recommend using the [Pen] tool, I use the [G-pen] , this is the configuration that I use to make line arts:
In this tip I explain briefly how I do my line art with the nib
So, when doing some details I have this result:

I hope that my explanation will help you for your next projects, thanks for reading until the end and until next time.
Bye !!!!
