Hi everybody! I'm Poan from Italy!

Today I’m gonna show you how I make realistic portraits using the greyscale tecnique and some general tips and guidelines for the face proportion's

DRAWING TOOLS

Now I want show you the tools I use to draw.

For the brush I use:

-Running Color Edge Watercolor remainds me of a pencil, but the most interesting thing is that it can be partially blended.

For the airbrush I use;

-The Soft, a basic tool but essential.

For ereasers I use two tools and used together they can be very effective:

-The texturized Kneaded

-The Soft

For The blenders I use;

-The basic Blend

-Running Color on Fiber

FACE PROPORTIONS

To make it is to digest I split the lesson in three steps.

For the first the front.

Draw a cirle and then the cheecks, draw facial construction lines: these are for the position of hair, eyes, nose and lips.

After having sketched everything I lower the opacity of the portrait and start to define more and more the subject with details.

For the second the face at a 3/4' angle.

Draw a cirle and do an orizzontal line, split the subject in three parts and try to positionate the elements. Sketch hair, eyebrows and mounth and once the opacity is lowered, detail it.

For the third the profile.

Create the headshape and jawline and do the guidelines, emphatizise the outiline of the circle and the transition to the neck, so start to refine it.

GRAYSCALE TO COLOR PAINTING

This is my most favored way of painting and allows for you to judge the values of your piece before devoting to color.

It also lets you easly change colors without having to repaint an entire section.

So draw any object in grayscale and add new layer and set the blending mode to "color" and have fun!

HAIR TUTORIAL

To draw hair the trick is to use the blender! In this case I used the running color of fiber to mix black, gray and white. Remember to put the highlights on the outer curves and the shadows on the inner ones

Finally to color it add a new layer and change the blending mode to "color"

EYES NOSE AND LIPS

In this case the most important thing if you are not a professionist, use a reference and copy as much as possible!

Anyway I can tell you how I did it!

After sketching it, I mixed the gradients of the skin with the Soft blender and I mixed the details with the Running Color on Fiber blender (for example eyebrows and eyelashes)
