5.Adjusting drawing qualities
Detailed adjustments can be made to drawing tools such as pens and brushes.
Similar to how one would select pen and paper that suits oneself in traditional art, in digital drawing, one adjusts the settings.
1. [Tool Property] palette
The drawing qualities of pens and brushes are mainly adjusted with the [Tool Property] palette.
① [Brush Size]
The brush size dictates the thickness of the line. Adjust the size depending on factors such as the canvas size and your pen pressure.
② [Opacity]
Opacity dictates the transparency of the tool. The lower the value is, the more transparent the line will be.
③ [Anti-aliasing]
The tool’s anti-aliasing can be selected from 4 levels. When drawing line art for monochrome manga you intend to print, set this to ‘none’.
④ [Stabilization]
Stabilization will remove hand shakes and smooth out lines. The larger the value is, the smoother the correction will be.
2. [Sub Tool Detail] palette
To make more detailed adjustments, select “Sub Tool Detail” from the bottom right of the [Tool Property] palette. For example, you can adjust the following.
①Brush tip
[Hardness], [Thickness], [Direction], etc. can be adjusted.
②Correction
Other than [Stabilization], [Post correction] and [Brush stroke] can be adjusted.
③ Starting and ending
You can adjust the thickness of lines at the start and end of drawing them. Further, it is possible to adjust the ease-in and ease-out of a stroke depending on the speed of the stroke drawn.
Try changing the settings and adjusting them for your own drawings. By changing the settings, you can create your very own pen.
The [Tool Property] and [Sub Tool Detail] palettes are described in detail below.
