Here we will introduce how to use the iPad version of CLIP STUDIO PAINT’s drawing tools, such as pens and brushes.

We will also explain how to find a pen and brush for you, and how to adjust settings.

■ On the settings and basic operation of CLIP STUDIO PAINT, please refer to ‘[iPad] Learn the basics of CLIP STUDIO PAINT’.

■ For detailed information on setting up and using each function of CLIP STUDIO PAINT, please refer to the CLIP STUDIO PAINT User Guide.

Finger and pen settings

In order to allow painting with a finger, by default, CLIP STUDIO PAINT’s finger and pen stylus operation are set to use the same tool for both fingers and pens.

When drawing with a dedicated stylus such as an Apple Pencil or Bamboo Sketch, it is recommended to set different tools for fingers and pens.

■ Settings when using a dedicated pen

Tap [Use different tools with finger and pen] in the [Command Bar] and turn it on.

■Wacom stylus pen settings

When using a Bamboo Sketch, check the following settings.

① Make sure there is a check next to [Using a Wacom stylus] in [CLIP STUDIO PAINT] Menu → [Wacom Stylus].

② Display the [CLIP STUDIO PAINT] menu → [Wacom stylus] → [Wacom stylus settings] and set your drawing hand.

  • Setting your drawing hand will adjust the pen’s drawing position. Select (up) and (down) when the pen is tilted towards either direction.
