This part will introduce the characteristics of some of the initially registered pens and brushes Please use this for reference for customizing your own.

Pens for manga

When choosing the [Pen] tool → [Pen] → [Real G pen] or [Roughness Pen] it is possible to express a slightly rougher style, that is similar to drawing with real paper and ink.

Pencils for sketching

When selecting the [Pencil] tool → [Pencil] → [Design pencil], the thickness of the strokes changes, according to the tilt of the pen, therefore it is possible to reproduce a style that applies color more uniformly on the canvas.

Watercolor-style brushes

With the [Brush] tool → [Watercolor] → [Opaque watercolor] you can express different shades depending on the strength of pen pressure.

[Smooth watercolor] is a sub tool that allows for smooth, water-like blending with color applied on the canvas in advance. It is effective for only lightly blurring colors.

Brushes for layering colors

Painting a new color on top of another and continuously stacking colors when painting is called layering.

By choosing the [Brush] tool → [Thick paint] sub tool group → [Oil paint flat brush], the tool allows you to layer colors while painting with the style of a flat brush.

(In Ver.1.8.5 and earlier, select the [Oil paint flat brush] sub tool from the [Oil paint] sub tool group.

If you updated from a version earlier than Ver.1.8.5 to Ver.1.8.6 or later, you can still select the [Oil paint flat brush] sub tool from the [Oil paint] sub tool group.)

The shades of color added, depend on the strength of the pen pressure applied.

[Color change] is a sub tool used to change the mixing ratio of the drawing color and the background color, depending on the strength of the pen pressure.

Brush

Under [Brush] tool → in the [India ink] group, it is possible to choose sub tools that can produce strong, brushed colors.

The [Bit husky] sub tool creates faded edges while giving the strokes a brush like feel.

The [Rough] brush reproduces a gritty touch, while also blurring the edges with thinner ink.

In addition to the initially registered sub tools, a great number of brushes, set up by professional illustrators, has been published on CLIP STUDIO ASSETS as well. Try downloading and using those!
