PC users should refer to the explanation for Studio Mode.

The layout of menu commands may vary in the smartphone version.

Clip Studio Paint has various tools to assist you in drawing straight lines, shapes, and objects from different perspectives. Drawing complex backgrounds and buildings with depth can be challenging. Try using tools like perspective rulers to make it easier to draw them.

Draw using a perspective ruler to create a sense of depth

The Perspective ruler automatically creates a perspective that matches the current view and allows you to draw straight lines in perspective freehand.

Studio Mode

Select Layer menu > Ruler/Frame menu > Create Perspective Ruler, and choose the perspective view you want to create in the Create Perspective Ruler dialog box.

Using a pen or another drawing tool, you can draw straight lines that will snap to the Perspective ruler.

Check this article for more information on perspective drawing and how to use perspective rulers.

Simple Mode

The perspective ruler cannot be used in Simple Mode. Please switch to Studio Mode to use it.

Draw an illustration with perfect symmetry

The symmetrical ruler is useful for drawing symmetrical objects or geometric patterns.

Studio Mode

Select Ruler tool > Symmetrical ruler sub tool.

Drag the tool to create a symmetrical ruler, allowing you to draw symmetrically with the target ruler at the center.

Note: If you are unable to draw symmetrically even after creating a symmetrical ruler, please check if the Line symmetry option is activated in the Tool Properties.

For details on editing the Symmetrical ruler, please refer to the user guide.

Simple Mode

The symmetrical ruler is not available in Simple Mode. Please switch to Studio Mode to use it.

Drag to draw various shapes

The Figure tool helps you easily create straight lines, curves, circles, rectangles, and more.

Studio Mode

Choose the Direct draw tool, and then select the desired figure from the Sub tool palette.

Render the figure by dragging on the canvas.

Fine adjustments to the shapes you draw can be made using the Tool Property palette.

For more information on how to master the use of the Figure tool, please refer to the user guide.

You can find more information on how to use Continuous curve and its mechanisms here.

Simple Mode

Select the Figure tool from the toolbar, and choose which figure tool you want to use from the settings of the tools displayed at the bottom.

Straight line, rectangle, ellipse, polygon: Render the figure by dragging on the canvas.

Continuous curve: Specify multiple points to draw a curve that passes through the specified points.

Polyline: Draw a polyline that passes through multiple points.

Note: Continuous curves and polylines will form closed shapes when you tap the first point again at the end.

From the settings menu that appears at the bottom after selecting the Figure tool, you can adjust the shape's line and fill settings, as well as the line thickness.

*When drawing a straight line, you can only adjust the thickness.
