Preface

This article mainly demonstrates the combination usage of black and white comics.

Mainly to enhance the atmosphere or emotional flow as an effect theme,

The sharing process will be introduced and demonstrated one by one.

▲Single brush and multiple brush applications

In the black and white comic storyboard,

You can directly apply the original brush settings.

to draw emotions and atmosphere.

But this time the main article is to introduce the combined effect presentation.

That is the effect created by a combination of multiple effect brushes.

So the original brush settings will be changed first.

Some brushes have the feature "Delete",

It has the same effect as an eraser.

It needs to be in the background layer to produce the effect.

So drawing on a blank layer is invalid.

(1) Change the built-in settings of brushes

Click Wrench Pattern to enter the brush original built-in settings.

Find the Blending Mode in Ink,

Change the original delete mode,

Modify to Normal Mode!

When using the brush in normal mode,

Please select white as the drawing color of the brush.

And above the base color layer,

Open a new layer to draw,

(4) Post-processing

You can see the difference in brushes by looking at the overall picture.

It is also easy to judge whether to go further or whether to post-production.

So different brushes need to be drawn and processed in layers first,

For example, some brush drawing effects,

The effect on black background is relatively weak.

You can use the filter function to correct it.

Filter-->Correct line width-->Increase line width.

Click on the image of the desired layer,

A floating selection area will appear.

Open the Effects window,

Click on Border Effect,

Further adjust the edge thickness and edge color,

The desired effect will appear on the edge of the pattern.

This can help fine-tune the thickness of a line or add more lines.

(1) Bordering of patterns

Select the pattern layer (hold down CTRL when selecting),

A floating selection range will appear.

Use Edit-->Select Range Chrome,

Used on the outer edge of the overall pattern,

Increase or highlight the distance between the front and back.

(2) Exclusion mode of layer

Effect brushes combined with the layer's exclude mode,

It can create a presentation style similar to hand-drawn mesh lines.

There is a brightness gradient effect at the intersection of black and white.

Or a stipple effect brush,

The picture effect presented under the exclusion mode of the layer,

It’s the effect of inverting black and white.

Please note the unique properties of its layer modes.

(3) Alternative uses of effect brushes (only for black and white comics)

Generally, the effect brush can directly use transparent color,

(If it is the built-in deletion mode, you can draw it directly)

to perform the erase action,

Create a sense of damage or transparency in the pattern.

Open a new layer to color and add pens.

Use the Stippling effect brush,

In the demonstration image, select white to use as an eraser.

(It feels like an eraser erasing black on the screen,

But in fact it is drawn on the layer),

This part allows you to modify parts later (deformation or re-clearing).

Apply the effect brush to the area to be meshed.

The part drawn with the brush can become a quick selection area.

The pointer is moved to the viewport portion of the layer,

Right-click the mouse to jump out of the selection range.

According to the selection range of the layer-->Establish a selection range,

(or press CTRL and click the layer window)

The floating selection area will jump out.

You can select a range to paste the network,

Layer-->New Layer-->Network,

Add dot effects to the atmosphere of the picture,

First make a copy of the visible layer directly.

You can use Delete mode brush,

Or choose a Transparent brush to draw directly around the pattern.

Attention! But this method is destructive drawing,

No further adjustments or modifications can be made.

After the network processing is completed,

Open a new layer,

Choose the dot-scraping brush with the built-in effect brush,

Choose white as the drawing color.

Draw around the pattern,

Use a hard eraser on the excess areas.

to clear away excess.

 

Both of the above methods can produce uneven texture at the edges of the pattern.

Transformed into a sense of fragmentation or light in the picture.

The dots and effects of electro-painting are presented,

The time-consuming process of applying dots and scraping the screen (destructive manual post-production) is eliminated.

The drawing efficiency is much faster than that of pure hand-drawing.

And the overall atmosphere of the picture finally presented,
